A fantastic customer experience is paramount to a great and profitable website. How do you create that fantastic experience? First and foremost, your customers need to be able to find what they’re looking for quickly and easily. That means a site which is easy to navigate. Make sure all your information is right up front and easy to find.
A sense of community is also a vital ingredient for a fantastic customer experience. The internet is an impersonal marketplace. It’s convenient for sure but people often make buying decisions based on likeability. They need to like you and they need to feel appreciated. A sense of community helps foster both experiences. You’ve likely heard the term “Content is King.” It’s overused for sure but it still holds true. Why do all these "articles" (cut & paste) tell what is needed, but none tell how to do it or provide their personal site as an example. The reality is, you must build it, have it evaluated by several people, rebuild it, re-evaluate and then learn all about keywords and meta tags. Website building is not a science, it is trial & error. At best expect to fail several times. DO NOT give up. You will eventually find the right structure for your site. Be prepared to keep it fresh and learn about blogging to help promote yourself as an authority. Good luck!

A website is an organism, a living thing. It must grow and change and adapt. You start small and go from there. Publish your business card first: tel. address. etc. then expand. Even if you think you have reached the best design for your website, 6 months from now, 6 years from now it will need changing/adapting/adding new things all the time. I havew to agree with Ron - I find most of these articles quite useless - they are posted for the sole purpose of giving the search engines SEO-related content to read - which is Faux Paux #1 with regards to SEO. I have 2 sites, one has a blog, the other one does NOT. The blog site is kicking the other one BIG TIME! Even though i have spent money getting back links to the Scottsdale Lender site, the blog site is still beating it out. I agree- These have to all be followed to be profitable on the internet. Also, the trick is saturating the website market with YOUR website, your brand, your product as much as possible. So google free article writing resources, free url submission sites...I have put very little into marketing costs, but alot of labor, but it pays off :)

Great Post for the average person looking for more website clicks and better SEO techniques.
I also started a BLOG connecting to the main website eCommerse store, with back links being obtained, and trying to get into Directories. Of course Article submission is next. It basically all ties into getting yourself noticed and marketed any way you can these days. For those wanting their BLOG to show up. In the initial stages it takes awhile to get noticed by Google or the other search engines. A lot of good tips. Many we have heard before, but have put off acting upon. SEO is a journey, not a destination so reminders, encouragement, and a fresh perspective along the way help with the process. I like the tip about the search tool. I review the search terms used on my site regularly and have added several items based on that.
One tool I've also used successfully is FREE online ads. Some will allow links to your site. It is labor intensive in the beginning but has drven a lot of traffic to my store as well as my site. Thanks for a great article, and thanks to all for sharing. I always pick up something useful in the comments! |

Okay, so everyone keeps telling the same stories. Sure the headline changes, but the message is always the same. For a box store, it is location-location-location. On the Internet it is both KISS as mentioned before, but also you need to promote your site. Pay Per Click CPC is probably one of the least inexpensive ways, and you only pay for actual visitors, rather than by impressions seen or shown. Facebook is cheap, but the CPC rate is low. Bidvertisement is a bit costlier, but the CPC rate is much higher per impressiosn. Both work well enough to use. Blogging is good, but so is tweeting, and such. SEO is a key for getting your site found, but branding is more important. Say you look for my site using "dollar seed", you'd see me aound #6 in Google. However, if you search for "DollarSeed" you will find over 100 unique links to my site. It's all about the branding, and getting that brand known so people know what it is they are tryiing to search for. CPC is a great way to get the word out, at minimal cost. Also, according to recent research:"Visitors will probably look at your site, and not make a purchase the first time. However, most will return within 40 hours, and relook at your offerings, and decide to make the purchase then. Driving lots of traffic is cool, but if you aren't offering what they thought you had, they will never come back again.
Another thing that most sites forget, is easy navigation. You must give the visitor a link in the general direction for what they seek. Keep in mind that the average visitor will leave your site, if they have to read a lot of words befgore entering the actual shopping area. That means you have between 30 seconds and 45 seconds to capture their attention, and make them want to look further. Another problem I see alot, are sites that really have no purpose. A simple blog with pictures to share with friends and family are okay, but don't try to drive strangers to it, they won't give a damn what you've got to say. Why do all these "articles" (cut & paste) tell what is needed, but none tell how to do it or provide their personal site as an example. The reality is, you must build it, have it evaluated by several people, rebuild it, re-evaluate and then learn all about keywords and meta tags. Website building is not a science, it is trial & error. At best expect to fail several times. DO NOT give up. You will eventually find the right structure for your site. Be prepared to keep it fresh and learn about blogging to help promote yourself as an authority. Good luck!

Even if you think you have reached the best design for your website, 6 months from now, 6 years from now it will need changing/adapting/adding new things all the time. I havew to agree with Ron - I find most of these articles quite useless - they are posted for the sole purpose of giving the search engines SEO-related content to read - which is Faux Paux #1 with regards to SEO. I have 2 sites, one has a blog, the other one does NOT. The blog site is kicking the other one BIG TIME! Even though i have spent money getting back links to the Scottsdale Lender site, the blog site is still beating it out. Lesson learned: Ya gotta blog if you want you site to rise in the rankings of Google and other search engines. |

I agree- These have to all be followed to be profitable on the internet. Also, the trick is saturating the website market with YOUR website, your brand, your product as much as possible. So google free article writing resources, free url submission sites...I have put very little into marketing costs, but alot of labor, but it pays off :)

Great Post for the average person looking for more website clicks and better SEO techniques.
I also started a BLOG connecting to the main website eCommerse store, with back links being obtained, and trying to get into Directories. Of course Article submission is next. It basically all ties into getting yourself noticed and marketed any way you can these days. For those wanting their BLOG to show up. In the initial stages it takes awhile to get noticed by Google or the other search engines. (For new Blogs) Send your Blog address with your signatures in emails, or put it in social sites like Facebook. A lot of good tips. Many we have heard before, but have put off acting upon. SEO is a journey, not a destination so reminders, encouragement, and a fresh perspective along the way help with the process. I like the tip about the search tool. I review the search terms used on my site regularly and have added several items based on that.
One tool I've also used successfully is FREE online ads. Some will allow links to your site. It is labor intensive in the beginning but has drven a lot of traffic to my store as well as my site. Thanks for a great article, and thanks to all for sharing. I always pick up something useful in the comments! |

Okay, so everyone keeps telling the same stories. Sure the headline changes, but the message is always the same. For a box store, it is location-location-location. On the Internet it is both KISS as mentioned before, but also you need to promote your site. Pay Per Click CPC is probably one of the least inexpensive ways, and you only pay for actual visitors, rather than by impressions seen or shown. Facebook is cheap, but the CPC rate is low. Bidvertisement is a bit costlier, but the CPC rate is much higher per impressiosn. Both work well enough to use. Blogging is good, but so is tweeting, and such. SEO is a key for getting your site found, but branding is more important. Say you look for my site using "dollar seed", you'd see me aound #6 in Google. However, if you search for "DollarSeed" you will find over 100 unique links to my site. It's all about the branding, and getting that brand known so people know what it is they are tryiing to search for. CPC is a great way to get the word out, at minimal cost. Also, according to recent research:"Visitors will probably look at your site, and not make a purchase the first time. However, most will return within 40 hours, and relook at your offerings, and decide to make the purchase then. Driving lots of traffic is cool, but if you aren't offering what they thought you had, they will never come back again.
Another thing that most sites forget, is easy navigation. You must give the visitor a link in the general direction for what they seek. Keep in mind that the average visitor will leave your site, if they have to read a lot of words befgore entering the actual shopping area. That means you have between 30 seconds and 45 seconds to capture their attention, and make them want to look further. Another problem I see alot, are sites that really have no purpose. A simple blog with pictures to share with friends and family are okay, but don't try to drive strangers to it, they won't give a damn what you've got to say.
