I was wondering if this laptop was worth getting? I would be using it for a media/schoolwork computer. I have a lot of music and video, and i use itunes a lot….. also, is this computer good for social networking: myspace, facebook ect… feedback would be appericated
For regular school work and internet usage would be fine, I wouldn’t recommend trying to use lots of programs at the same time-will slow down the computer and create strife. $198 is a good price for any new computer that works and I think this one already has Windows on it. I say go for it, just keep your reciept and warranty/registration in case you have troubles. Later in life, If you ever have the money upgrade to Mac, especially if you are into graphic design!
it is not great
For what you will be using it for, this is a great deal. More than enough for your music needs. Now when you say you will be using it for video do you mean editing? Then no. For storage you won’t fit your dvd collection but 160gb is decent. emachines was purchased by acer which also owns gateway so you can depend on a solid brand name behind it although emachines is there economic brand it is nicely made. The processor is a single core and slightly above a atom processor which can be found on most net-books but again if you are not doing demanding tasks like video editing this is more than sufficient. It has a built in ati radeon 3200 graphics chip for light very light gaming more then enough for Solitaire, chess or Mahjong : ] 2gb of memory with the option to upgrade to 4 gb which no one who only does music or internet surfing or office documents will ever need. I have 4gb on a custom built and do a little of everything and still only use about 30% of my memory plus a card reader, dual dvd burner and windows 7 64bit you can’t loose. Or you can pay a 100 bucks more for a name brand with similar specs. Just remember that this is not a power laptop so don’t expect it to rock your world. I am considering one for my wife though i haven’t weighed the option of being trampled by an angry walmart mob on black friday into the equation. If you want a closer look consider this link which shows a model from the same family use copy and paste onto browser if it doesn’t work.
