I am going to be playing a lot of graphic intense game and would LOVE to stay away from any lag, so I would like to pick a processor that will meet my needs for playing new games and using my computer normally without having it slow to a crawl. I have heard bad things about the AMD 64 chip not interacting with Vista, but I would think that if you got the 64 bit version of Vista, this would solve that problem. Here is the list of what I have to choose from:
AMD Athlon64 X2 4000+ Dual-Core
AMD Athlon64 X2 4400+ ” ”
AMD Athlon64 X2 4800+ ” ”
AMD Athlon64 X2 5000+ ” ”
AMD Athlon64 X2 5200+ ” ”
AMD Athlon64 X2 5400+ ” ”
AMD Athlon64 X2 5600+ ” ”
and the rest can be found at http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/system/cfgc2d.asp?v=d#configurator_top
under the processors.
I am trying to build one from either IBUYPOWER.COM or CYBERPOWERPC.COM. Even though they are the same company, they both have different methods of configuring a system, and I want the best for the least amount of $.
Thanks
Buy AMD 6000+ X2 CPU with 690G AMD chipset motherboard. and A Graphicd card with ATI redon chip.
Sorry to tell you this, but if you want the best for your money you need to build it yourself.
Anyone building a gaming machine today is an idiot or a fanboy if they go AMD. Intels CORE 2 architecture absolutely destroys AMD in gaming…and everything else for that matter. AMD use to do the exact same to the Pentium 4′s and D’s, but the tides have changed.
Chart:
http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu_2007.html?modelx=33&model1=946&model2=882&chart=425
And one thing you have to remember is that AMD chips, even when overlcocking won’t go past about 3.0ghz with air cooling, while CORE 2 cased chips will hit close to 4.0ghz with air cooling- making them even more untouchable by AMD.
You really need to research for a few days and ask questions at REAL PC forums (anandtech and tomshardware), not Yahoo Answers.
Cyberpower PC is a business like any other, and their goal it to squeeze that MAXIMUM amount of money they can from you. Are they better than a Dell/Compaq….sure, but you pay a lot for it.
I’ve added up the prices on several of their PC’s and you could build it yourself for 30-40% LESS.
The slowest video card worth buying for “graphic intense games” would be the x1950pro @ $120 through newegg.com
Next up is the x1950xt $170
Jumping to the next card gets you the current champ, the 8800-series Nvidias. The $250 8800gts 320mb will play any game at max setting at resolutions of 1680×1050 (standard widescreen) or less.
Here is a chart that show graphic cards FPS (frames per second- higher the better). Prey is a fairly modern game with lots of details and effects.

check out the prices at noBonez.net they have them for a lower price
You may want to take a look at my building guide first, I added an overclocking guide in there as well for my test system. It’s in 3 parts complete with hardware links for purchasing the components.
