I need an estimated retail price for this computer im building (Im gonna sell it on Ebay).
After reading the specs listed below, please give an educated estimate on how much you think it would sell for.
Intel Core 2 Quad 2.4 GHz Processor
4 GB Ram
1024 GB Hard Drive
BD-RW 2x Disk Drive (Blue-Ray)
Windows Vista Basic
How much do you think it would go for?
Are you serious?
Ok lets make the first thing clear, its gonna take me around $2,600 just to build it.
Oh, i also forgot to mention one other thing it has:
Nvidia Geforce 8800 GTX Graphics Card
yeah…
1200-1350
Why would you put an expensive Blue-Ray drive in and run a cheapo Vista basic operating system that doesn’t even run Aero? You won’t be able to even buy the parts for what someone can buy a Dell, HP etc for with the same configuration. I build sell and repair puters for a living and, trust me, you won’t even get what you paid to build it unless you build high-end $2500-$4000 gaming machines. Slapping a bunch of parts together is the easy part, the real work begins after you power it up the first time.
i guess 2950 should be your reserve; XPS’s go for 4000 with those specs.
Shove vista up your a.s.s bud its garbage.
In general, assembling a PC and selling it on Ebay is risky business. Unless you have a source for the parts thats considerably less than online prices that I usually see at places like Newegg, you’ll generally lose money or barely break even.
What I would do is to monitor Ebay for a couple of weeks and watch auctions that are for similar hardware and see what they close for.
From the hardware you list, I’m assuming you’re looking for at least $1400 or more to break even.
Edit – my estimate is based solely on what you originally listed – if you want a more complete assessment provide a complete build list
i’d sell that for 3500-4000 dollars. (although I would put a better version of vista in there)
